The Generac 6602 is a powerful gas pressure washer for a decent price. It also features the possibility to regulate pressure; on the other hand, there are some design problems and many customers reported bad packaging.
Pros:
- Power, great engine and pump
- Adjustable pressure
Cons:
- several design problems
- bad packaging and customer service from Generac
Key specifications:
- PSI: 3,100
- GPM: 2.8
- Weight: 68.5 lbs

Power, starting and areas of use
The new OneWash from Generac offers a high PSI of 2.800, along with 2.8 GPM it makes it one of the most powerful non-commercial pressure washers on the market. It offers plenty of power for all tasks you’ll need to do around your yard, both the engine and pump are great and durable and the fuel consumptions isn’t bad either.
Considering starting, the users’ experience is quite mixed – some report it always starts on first three pulls, some say it’s hard to start and takes between 3-6 pulls most of the time. It seems the starting cord position is not ideal, the best way to use is probably to pull with your left hand and hold the handle with your right to prevent the machine from moving.
Also, users report the stop switch wire disconnects occasionally because of vibrations – and fixing it is difficult due to very tight space (some people recommended squeezing the connection with a pair of pliers gently or securing it with a tape – no problems since then).
Probably the biggest advantage of this unit is the dial for adjusting pressure – you can easily set it in 4 different positions ranging from 2,000 to 3,100 PSI to select the right pressure to remove the dirt but also avoid damaging the surface. And users love it, with the help of the 3 included nozzle tips (0°, 25° and soap) it’s great for switching between various tasks easily – for example you clean some stubborn grime from a driveway using the maximum power available and then switch to 2,000 PSI and a wider nozzle to wash your car without worrying about stripping the paint off. The nozzles are easy to switch, but one more (40° for example) would have been better.
Users report the 6602 is great for all common tasks around you house – cleaning a car, siding, decks, patio, sidewalks, driveways, removing many years of dirt and mildew from concrete or bricks, stripping paint from wood and so on. And the soap dispenser (the tank for detergent is located at the bottom) also works well.
Handling and build quality
The assembly is fairly easy (after putting it together just check out the bolts and wheels keeping the handle in place if they need tightening) and storage or transport are not a problem either thanks to the foldable handle (see the picture below).
Unfortunately there are also several reported issues, the one that can be heard most often is bad packaging – parts scattered everywhere across the box or even broken or missing, plus bad customer service from Generac and problems with warranty.
A few users also reported problems with gas leakage or hose bursting after first use.
Conclusion: If you need a powerful pressure washer for your home and garden, the Generac 6602 OneWash would be a good choice, particularly if you plan to do various cleaning jobs where you’ll appreciate the pressure adjustment dial.
However, there are also a few quality issues connected with this unit so you can check out the Simpson MSH3125-S as well – it doesn’t have the possibility to regulate PSI, but offers 2 more nozzles and has better user rating.
