Handling and build quality
The K.3000 “Follow Me” is the only pressure washer with 4 wheels available at this moment – Karcher introduced this concept to combat the notorious problems of upright design units: tipping over and difficulty to move around with hoses attached.
And we can say they succeeded, the machine is very easy to use, lightweight and compact, it’s like dragging a small vacuum cleaner behind you. The pressure hose has been shortened a little to provide better control and dragging capability and although the garden hose and power cord don’t enable to use this system to its fullest potential, you’ll definitely appreciate it if you need to work on several different places.
The assembly is quick and simple, you’ll be ready for cleaning in a few minutes – and as most electric units, it’s really quiet (see the video above).
Unfortunately, some users also report a few quality issues, for example that it started leaking or stopped working completely after one year of service.
Power and areas of use
According to its PSI, GPM and weight it stands somewhere in-between light and medium duty washers – it’s an ideal tool for basic cleaning around you house: cars, windows, garage floor, decks, vinyl fence and siding, patio furniture, concrete pavements and so on. However, it lacks the power for tougher jobs as you have to get really close to wash the dirt off – and larger areas are problematic as well, it takes a very long time to wash them.
There are two wands you can choose from – an adjustable one (it’s quite weak so it will be used mainly for soap application, cars etc.) and a power nozzle for more difficult tasks. They work okay, are easy to switch, just could have been a little longer so you don’t have bend when you need to wash ground from a very short distance. A detergent tank is also present.
Conclusion: The Karcher "Follow me" would be a great choice if you need a pressure washer for some basic cleaning tasks around your yard, particularly if you plan to move it a lot during use. Then you’ll really appreciate the cart design, compact size and low weight.
On the other hand, it isn’t cheap – you can get more powerful units for this price.
Also, it’s not ideal for tougher jobs or washing larger areas – if that’s what you need, check out our most recommended medium-duty or even gas powered washers.
