Handling and build quality

cleaning a vehicle using the MSH3125-SAs a gas powered pressure washer, the MSH3125-S offers the possibility to be used anywhere you need, without a necessity of an outlet. Also, it offers a lot more power than electric units as you can see from the PSI value. On the other hand, it’s quite loud so we recommend using a hearing protection (and maybe also warning and apologizing to your neighbors if you are going to use it for a longer time 🙂 ). Plus there are the carbon monoxide emissions which means it cannot be used indoors.

The assembly is very easy, the unit features a sturdy metal frame, big rubber tires (and a good clearance) and a nice long hose (see the video above). Also, all connections are brass and there is no water leakage. The handle can be flipped around so it’s very convenient for storage or even transportation in SUV.

In the previous years, there were several complaints about missing parts or useless design of the spray tips holder – the good news is the holder has been upgraded and now works fine; however, now and then there are still reviews mentioning a missing part or bad customer services.

Power and areas of use

This Simpson MegaShot washer is still rather a consumer-grade machine and for that purpose it offers plenty of power, the difference from 2000 PSI electric units is really tremendous, it’s much more effective and all jobs are done a lot faster. Just pay attention to these two points:

  1. Safety – this machine can cut through a tree so be careful when operating it! Don’t treat it like a common tool but rather like a gun.
  2. Don’t let the pump run idle, it can overheat. So don’t start the engine until you’re ready to start cleaning and if you release the trigger for more than 30-60 seconds, shut down the motor or just spray some water into the air.

The Honda engine starts very easily and gas consumptions is also good. The pressure itself cannot be adjusted but there are five different nozzles offering a spray angle from 0 to 40 degrees:

Picture Degrees For
top power for spot cleaning on hard, unpainted (or high reach) areas – metal or concrete, do not use on wood
15° intense cleaning, unpainted hard surfaces – grills, driveways, concrete or brick walkways, unpainted brick or stucco
25° for most applications – lawn equipment and furniture, sidewalks, unpainted siding, gutters and eaves, concrete, brick surfaces
40° painted or delicate surfaces – cars, trucks, boats, wood, painted brick and stucco, vinyl or painted siding
soap low pressure, applying cleaning solutions – safe on all surfaces

Users report no problems with any of the mentioned washing jobs – it’s great for painting preparation, cleaning decks, driveways, patios or sidings, removing caked dirt, grime or moss, only you should be careful with painted surfaces. If you are unsure whether the spray of a particular nozzle would damage some object, test a small part first or even use a wider tip and see what it does.

We should also mention that a few users reported oil leakage or problems with the pump (in most cases, Amazon covered the repair costs or issued a full refund).

Conclusion:  If you need a quality pressure washer for residential use and want more power and efficiency that electric tools can offer, this is the one for you. The 3,100 PSI makes it very effective and usable for all kinds of cleaning jobs, but it’s still easy to use and convenient for storage or transport. We can definitely recommend it.

Frequently asked questions:

What kind of fuel should be used?

Any quality gas, for example 89 octane. Just stay away from ethanol! Also, it’s a 4-cycle unit so no mixing with oil.

Can the pressure be adjusted?

No, but you can select from five sprayer tips – for example a narrow high pressure one for the most stubborn dirt or a wide low pressure nozzle when you don’t want to damage the target object. You can also vary the distance from the tip to the surface to adjust pressure.

How to use soap or detergents with it?

There is a small tube which you insert into a bottle, container or bucket with a cleaning fluid and the pump draws it from there as you spray.
