The Sun Joe SPX1000 is a solid quality light-duty electric pressure washer – inexpensive, lightweight, easy to move around and with enough power for easier homeowner cleaning tasks.
Pros:
- Lightweight, compact and portable
- Good price
Cons:
- bottle for detergent has to be purchased separately
Key specifications:
- PSI: 1,450
- GPM: 1.45
- Weight: 11.7 lbs

Handling and build quality
With 1,450 PSI and weight of 11,7 lbs, the SPX1000 falls into the light-duty category of pressure washers – it’s quite small, lightweight and very easy to carry and store. And as all electric washers also quiet and easy to use.
The assembly is simple and easy (see the videos), you just join the wand pieces together, attach a few parts and the hoses and you are ready to clean. Both the pressure hose and power cord are long enough to work comfortably and are easy to roll up afterwards. Plus there is no leakage of water.
The only problem we could find is that the wand is a little short so taller people would have to bend over if they need to spray the ground from a short distance. Also the wheels are quite useless as the handle is too short for dragging – and (thanks to its low weight) you would just carry it in your hands anyway.
Power and areas of use
We can say this Pressure Joe has plenty of power for light cleaning jobs and with some effort, even medium difficulty tasks are manageable. Mostly, the problem isn’t that it can’t get rid off the dirt, but that it takes a very long time to sweep larger areas.
Users report using it successfully on cars, windows, vinyl or stucco siding, plastic yard chairs, garage floor, patio, tiles, bricks or decks, oil and grease off an engine or even some mildew from concrete. Problems start with thicker layers of old mildew or mold, very dirty and worn out cement or similar – as they require multiple passes with the washer. And as we already mentioned, large areas are the stumbling-stone, they just take forever to clean.
To select your preferred angle and power of the spray, an adjustable nozzle is used – it works really well and is easy to adjust. On the other hand, a bottle for cleaning fluids is not included and you have to buy it separately.
And as most electric cleaners, it features the Total Stop System to engage the pump only when trigger is pulled – which helps to prolong the pump’s life.
Conclusion: If you want an inexpensive pressure washer for lighter jobs and occasional home use, the SPX1000 from Sun Joe would be a good candidate. It’s lightweight, very easy to use and move around and has enough power for those light tasks. We can definitely recommend it.
However, its power isn’t suitable for tougher jobs or larger areas – for these tasks we would rather recommend you some medium-duty electric or gas powered unit..
