Easy to Use – No Cord, Noise or Mixing Fuel

The Black+Decker LSW36 is a part of the large family of small, lightweight blowers designed for light tasks – it’s a bit heavier and more expensive than a typical sweeper, but on the other hand the 40V battery provides a decent working time (especially when compared to the 20V LSW20).

Thanks to its low weight and compact size it’s easy to carry and maneuver (great for women or seniors), the handle has a nice soft grip and the balance is also good.

The engine isn’t loud and you’re saved from all the hassle of gas powered tools like maintenance, mixing fuel or starting – and there’s no cord to drag around which makes it very convenient whenever you need to clean some small area quickly, you just pick it up and use.

The majority of users did not report any problems, only a few wrote the unit started making a strange noise and died after about a year of service.

Don’t Expect Large Power

First, bear in mind this tool is just a sweeper, not a classical leaf blower – so don’t expect the performance of corded or even gas units. Many users gave it a bad rating on Amazon just because they did not consider its intended purpose and expected more power.

It’s designed for cleaning hard surfaces like walkways, decks, patios, pool areas, driveways or garages, moving mostly dry leaves or other debris – and in these conditions it works well. You can use it for a cleanup after mowing, blowing dust and dirt out of your garage and similar lighter tasks.

But it just doesn’t have enough power for collecting leaves on grass, blowing away damp stuff and so on (the built-in scraper helps with wet debris on hard surfaces but it still isn’t ideal).

Speed Dial – Useful Feature

Another difference from the 20V model is a variable speed control. It’s not that easily accessible (it’s located on the back of the unit, above battery – placing it under your thumb would be probably better), but users like it as you can easily dial the power down for some delicate tasks like working around flowers or to avoid blowing dirt into the pool.

Solid Battery Working Time

The 40 Volt lithium-ion battery offers a decent run time, about 15-30 minutes depending on the selected speed – plus the recharge is also quite fast, about 1 hour. As with other lithium batteries, there is no drop in power as the charge level decreases and you can even check the amount of remaining charge using a button and LED indicators.

Also, the batteries are compatible with other B+D 40V power tools like string trimmer, chainsaw or hedge trimmer.
