Cons:
- Oil consumption
Key specifications:
- Length: up to 8 ft
- Bar length: 8″
- Battery time: 25-40 minutes constant use
Handling and reach
The GreenWorks pole saw comes with all the advantages of cordless pole pruners – it’s quiet, very easy to use and not heavy. Also, there is no dragging of power cord and you won’t have to mix fuel like with gas machines.
It’s easy to assemble, you won’t need more than 5 minutes. The whole construction seems sturdy, there is only a little flex and the pole sections snap together just fine – you can also choose if you want to use just two of them or all three. The overall reach is slightly shorter (maximum length of the pole is 8 feet) when compared to similar units, but still decent.
Thanks to the battery sitting on the bottom end, the tool has a great balance and is very easy to control – it becomes slightly worse when you join all the three parts but still okay.
Power
The 40V battery gives this machine a solid power – it cuts even 6″ branches easily and doesn’t bog down. The chainsaw is positioned at a slight angle from the pole so it rests nicely on the branch and has also enough weight to cut through the limb effectively.
The tension of the chain is easy to adjust (with a Phillips screwdriver) and it also features an automatic oiler – it works well, only runs through the oil quite fast. The reservoir is small so make sure to monitor it if there is enough oil left.
Battery
The 20672 uses a 40V G-MAX battery (you can also purchase the GreenWorks 20302 version without the battery and charger) – it’s a little more expensive but also offers nice running time, users report 25-40 minutes of constant use or about 70-90 minutes non-continually. The recharge is also quite fast (between 1 and 2 hours) so you probably won’t need a spare battery.
And you can even start using other gardening power tools from the 40V G-MAX lineup such as string trimmers, chainsaw, hedge trimmer and others – the batteries are interchangeable.
Conclusion: If you want quality and powerful cordless pole saw that is very easy to use and offers good battery running time, GreenWorks 20672 is the right choice for you. We highly recommend it.
However, it is still intended mainly for occasional use – for heavy pruning, the gas machines or Silky manual saws are much better.

Frequently asked questions:
How should I treat the battery to ensure maximum lifetime?
Always store the batteries inside your house in reasonable temperatures – never leave them on direct sun or outdoors during winter! Also recharge the battery as soon as it is out of power.
What is included in the package?
The pole chainsaw itself, 1 battery, charger and blade guard (the version 20302 comes without battery and charger).
Are there any accessories I should buy?
You’ll just need to purchase a chainsaw bar oil.
Is there any maintenance needed?
You’ll need adjust the chain tension (very easy to do, just remember you’ll probably have to do it quite often during the first hours of use – so take a look at it every few minutes if it needs adjusting) and also fill the oil reservoir when it becomes empty.
The motor is an enclosed unit so no maintenance is required. Just ensure a proper care to the battery (see above).
