Handling and build quality

a woman using the AR383SS to clean a sidewalkThe AR383SS is the second most powerful electric washer from the AR’s new S-Line collection (the top model 390SS has 100 more PSI, features a detergent concentration dial and is a bit more expensive). And both of them are solidly built, quiet, very easy to assemble, operate and store and do not leak.

Both the cord and pressure hose are long enough, also the wand is light and comfortable to use – the only things users are not completely satisfied with are the wheels and hose reel. The wheels are quite small and all plastic – they work ok (and the unit is light enough to be carried without their help) but have problems outside of flat areas -larger rubber wheels would be better.

The reel is meant only for storage of the hose so you have to disconnect it from the wand and main housing first and then wind in onto the reel – which isn’t much convenient as the hose is a bit stiff (many users said they just coil it up and leave it next to the machine). Also there is some confusion about the hose material, some customers report they got a metal braided, some mentioned a plastic one.

Power and areas of use

It offers plenty of pressure for the classical cleaning tasks around your house – washing windows, cars, boat, gutters, siding, grill, deck, fence, patio, sidewalks, driveway or pool area and removing all kinds of dirt, grease, mildew or moss. Only for the very tough jobs like cleaning second story siding from the ground, large driveways or paint stripping you would probably have to get a gas powered unit.

You can select from four different nozzles to get the most appropriate one for the particular task – 0° beam, 25° fan, a rotary turbo spray and a low pressure tip for applying cleaning solution. They are stored on the back of the handle (see the picture nearby), are very easy to change and work great.

There is also a detergent tank on the back of the machine so you can apply a cleaning solution of your choice easily – just put the soap tip on and press the trigger. And just a quick note – make sure the water is turned on before starting the washer, otherwise you can damage the motor.

Conclusion:  If you want a quality pressure washer for light or medium difficulty cleaning jobs around your home, the AR383SS from AR Blue would be a great candidate. It has enough power, doesn’t leak and as most electric washers it’s very easy to use. We highly recommend it.

However, it isn’t strong enough for washing large areas or for the really tough jobs – so if that’s what you’re interested in, we would rather advise you to take a look at gas powered units.
