Lightweight, Compact and Easy to Use

a man using the G-MAX 24252The 24252 (bare-tool version is named GreenWorks 24282) belongs to the category of small cleanup blowers, meant to be used on harder surfaces. And as all these tools it is super-light (only 3.39 pounds!), quiet and very easy to use.

The ergonomics are very good (all the controls are easily accessible on the handle), it’s well balanced and comfortable to use even with just one hand – there will be no wrist strain. The material and build quality seems above average and the assembly is quick and easy, you just snap on the tubes and battery.

Also the battery system makes it so convenient for those cleanup tasks – no dragging and unwinding the power cord every time you need to blow debris off your patio, no hassle of gas machines like mixing fuel, maintenance or pulling the start cord.

Perfect for Lighter Jobs

This blower offers air speed of 150 mph which is pretty good, however the air volume is quite low (135 CFM). So while it’s ideal for cleanup after mowing/edging or blowing dust, sand and other debris away from your driveway, deck, garage or truck, don’t expect it to replace a classical leaf blower.

It’s not powerful enough to blow leaves from grass (especially if they’re wet), on the other hand damp leaves and debris on sidewalks are a little tough but definitely manageable with some effort. Gutters only if they’re dry, but users report it’s great for drying your car after washing.

Speed Dial – a Useful Feature

The on/off switch and speed dial

A nice feature is the speed dial, comfortably located just under your thumb. The power is not that high to begin with so it might seem the speed control would be useless – however, users like the possibility, you can lower the speed whenever you need a gentler flow for flower beds, to avoid raising dust clouds or displacing smaller stones.

Plus you can even modify the direction of the air flow using a little flap at the end of the nozzle – see the picture below.

Solid Battery Working Time

The 40V G-MAX battery offers a solid run time, users report between 15-30 minutes, depending on the selected speed – that’s enough for most yards so you won’t probably need to buy a spare one. The charge time is about 1 hour (for the 2AH battery)

Also, good news is that if you own any of the other GreenWorks 40V G-MAX tools (string trimmer, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, mower etc.), the batteries are interchangeable.

Conclusion:  If you need a lightweight blower for cleaning your sidewalks, decks or garage and don’t want to mess with an electric cord, the GreenWorks 24252 would be a great choice for you – very easy to use, with enough power for these tasks and solid battery running time. We can definitely recommend it.

However, the power doesn’t enable any harder tasks – so if you need to blow leaves from grass, collect them into piles or similar jobs, a more powerful unit would be certainly better.

Frequently asked questions:

How should I treat the battery to ensure maximum lifetime?

Always store the batteries inside your house in reasonable temperatures – never leave them on direct sun or outdoors during winter! It is also advisable to recharge the battery as soon as it is out of power.

Is a charger included?

If you get the version with a battery included, a charger is present as well.

Are there any accessories I should buy?

Most likely no, only if you have a large area to clean, consider getting a spare battery.

Is it compatible with the older 40V batteries?

No, the G-MAX 40V tools are not compatible with older 40V batteries. When in doubt, just look for the “G-MAX” marking.

Is there any maintenance needed?

No, the motor is an enclosed unit so no maintenance is required. Just ensure a proper care to the battery (see above) and clean the machine from debris occasionally.
