Lightweight 1-Gallon Tank
Smith 190285 is a classical compact and lightweight 1-gallon sprayer. The tank comes with a thick, durable plastic, it’s translucent and there are also markings so you can check the amount of liquid easily.
Thanks to the funnel-style opening, the tank is easy to fill, there won’t be any problems with spilling chemicals. It’s also very easy to clean after use, most parts can be disassembled or even replaced.
Easy to Pump
Many users mentioned how easy it is to pressurize and use. It takes about 5-12 pumps and you’re ready to spray for a few minutes. The stream is even and consistent, offers a decent range and the nozzle doesn’t clog.
A nice bonus comes with the replaceable Viton seals which provide top chemical resistance. Being able to accommodate even harsh chemicals, this sprayer can be used for a variety of tasks. Now let’s talk about the hose and wand – they both offer a decent length, enough flex and aren’t too cumbersome.
The handle has a nice grip, only the trigger could have been improved. Several users reported the spring there is prone to rust and will cause problems over time – so either clean it from time to time, replace it with a stainless steel spring or request a replacement from the manufacturer. Also, one customer mentioned that the trigger does not close the shut-off completely so you can actually drip chemicals where you don’t want them.
Only 1 Nozzle
As with all of these small handheld sprayers, there is only one poly nozzle which can be adjusted from a stream to mist. The size of the droplets is okay (but not perfect for a real fine mist) and also a fan option is missing.
Good news is that the shut-off features a lock-on so you can spray continuously. On the other hand, there is no pressure relief valve so make sure you release all the pressure before opening the tank, otherwise the liquid can burst out (one way to do that is to hold it upside down and "spray" the air out).
Conclusion: If you are searching for a cheap and compact sprayer for your garden or a small yard, the Smith 190285 would be a great choice. It’s very easy to use and clean, offers enough pressure and also a lock-on function. We can definitely recommend it.
